I so admire the originality and creativity of this author.When I finished this book, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Just the descriptions of what Olmstead finds day in and day out on his travels is enough. Not only does it provide the first complete catalogue of Rothko's paintings on canvas (almost all in gorgeous color reproduction), it also includes numerous fresh and original insights concerning Rothko's intellectual and artistic sources. I feel that many more species should have had ventral views and comparisons between male and female animals. Thrilling and thought provoking.
