This extensive and detailed survey of kidnapping from biblical times to the present is a comprehensive reference guide to the study of kidnappers, their victims, and all matters relating to this dark crime of abduction. It’s easy to think about, but hard to get lost in, this novel.I’ve drawn several parallels between Betancourt and Arundhati Roy here, so let’s clarify that these parallels are very imprecise. This was a very powerful book for me. The authors are very witty covering some of the lighter topics and very compassionate on the more serious topics. I bought it for my 9 mo.
